Bekal Beach
The Bekal beach is as much famous for its
scenic beauty as it is for long fort that juts into the sea. The Bekal Beach
surroundings are excellent and the environment just right for relaxation and
recreation. Located in the Kasargod district, the Bekal Fort Beach is 16 km south
of Kasargod on the National Highway 17. The place is ideal for those
who enjoy the combination of sun and surf. The Bekal Fort Beach that is located nearest
to the Bekal fort is a shallow one and along with the seas, it also provides
a spectacular view of the Bekal fort. The Khanvatheertha Beach has a large
swimming pool like formation in the sea itself which is a huge attraction
for the tourists.

Bekal Fort
The Bekal Fort is located near the Bekal beach. It is among the most well
preserved forts in Kerala. It is situated on a headland which extends for 35
acres and juts into the Arabian Sea, the fort has a commanding position on
the beach. The Bekal fort is more than 300 years old and it has specifically
designed openings for defence and protection.

The months from August to March are the best months to visit the Bekal
beach.
How to get there
Kasargod is the nearest city from Bekal beach. Mangalore is the nearest
airport which is 50 km away. Kasargod has excellent railway and road links
with the rest of the major cities of the country.

» Ananthapuram Lake Temple
Located 30 km away from the Bekal fort, it is the only lake temple in
Kerala. This temple is said to be the original seat of Lord Anantha
Padmanabha (Lord Vishnu).

The Chandragiri Fort is located near the Chandragiri river and the cruise
around the green islands of the river is particularly exciting.
» Veliyamprabha
It is a beautiful backwater stretch only 30 km away from Bekal. It is fed
