Beypore Beach

south of Kozhikode, the Beypore beach in kerala is famous for being an ancient ship
building centre. The beach itself here is neat and clean and is just right

cooked seafood along with refreshing coconut water on offer in the seaside
stalls at the beach. One of the major attractions at the beach is the 2 km
long stone bridge which is built entirely of stone.

The Ship Building Yard at Beypore
Beypore was famous for being a major ship building centre and the demand
mainly came from the merchants of Western Asia. These ships are called Uru
and the tradition of these Urus goes back by 1500 years. There is no
planning on paper while planning for the construction of the ship as
everything is conceived in the mind of the workers and still the end result
is perfect.

The Karipur International Airport at Kozhikode is the nearest airport from
the Beypore Beach which is about 23 km away. Kozhikode is the nearest
railhead from Beypore beach as well which is about 10 km away. The place is
well connected by the road network as well and you can go anywhere from
Kozhikode which is only 11 km away.

» Kaladundi Bird Sanctuary
About 7 km away from Beypore, the Kaladundi Bird Sanctuary is a paradise
for the birdwatchers. The sanctuary has a good variety of local as well as
migratory birds which come mainly in the months of February - March.

There are various food stalls at the beach which offer you a taste of the
ethnic Kerala delicacies.
» Dolphin's Point
The dolphin's point is just a few kilometers away from the city centre of
Kozhikode. Here you can see the dolphins playing in the sea early in the
morning.
» Thikkoti Lighthouse
It is an important attraction of Kozhikode which was built after a
shipwreck. The remains of this incident can still be seen here.
